Once visited by John Smith in 1608, the island has changed little since it was first settled eighty years later. Along the way, you’ll see some of the most beautiful scenery the Chesapeake Bay and Tangier Sound have to offer.
As the boat makes the 14 mile trip out to the island, you’ll see the chain of islands that form the Tangier Sound and the waterfowl that inhabit the bay. You’ll learn the history of the other islands namely Fox Island, Watts Island, and Port Isobel.
